The uCast is what is played on the ūPublic Screens all around town. Some of the programming is created by the ūPublic creative staff but most of what you see is publicly submitted. That means that anyone can submit to be broadcast, even you.
Do
You have something to say and have the skills to put it in video? Use the ūPublic network to get it out for the whole city to see. You film and submit it and we broadcast it. You want to change the world, or at least how we view it? Here is your chance.
What matters to you? What do you think we all should know about? Tell us something cool about the city we live in. Take us places we may have never seen. Show us a new angle.
Guidelines
• Spots must be G rated (in execution, language and concept).
• They must highlight something cool about the city. You can focus on stuff you can do or things to see. You can also wave the flag for a cause you care about or someone you think we all should know about who makes our town a better place. If you just want to entertain us, that is cool too, but try to use locations and backdrops that give it a local feel.
• Keep it non-partisan and avoid hot button issues. This is about bringing us all together.
• Finished pieces should not exceed 30 seconds, ideally they should be 15. This is because public space audiences can rotate pretty quickly, unless you can make them stop and look. Longer pieces will be considered. You can also tell them were they can watch the full lenght cuts online. (for example on YouTube or your own site)
• Compressed .mov files are the preferred format but .wmv files are also accepted.
• Make the piece visual because you cannot count on sound in some locations. Tell your story with imagery. You can use captioning for small amounts of dialog and many locations do have audio. Caption in white text with a black outline and a plain block type face.
Submissions
You can email your finished piece to submissions@theupublic.com. If your file is too big, email us for a ftp submission address. Contact Us with more questions.
